Brave is an exciting movie that explores the life of a headstrong Scottish princess, ‘Merida’ who aims to become the best archer around. She has been encouraged all along by her larger than life father, ‘King Fergus’ who’s over the top behaviour gives the movie a touch of craziness. Queen Elinor, her mother, has bought up her daughter to become a real queen. From this we are taken on an interesting journey about mother/daughter relations. Now Merida consults with a witch in the forest who promises to help her with her problems with her mother. King Fergus has issues with bears as he once lost a leg in a fight with a bear. The witch is a tricky person who promises all sorts of help to Merida only there are drawbacks to her promise of help. The Queen becomes a grizzly bear which brings all sorts of craziness to the relationship. What is really funny is the bear playing charades as she tries to communicate with her daughter. Finally the curse wears off and the family become themselves again. One of the crazy segments is when Merida’s triplet brothers become little bears. This is a true Pixar experience with great animation, good storytelling and characters we can relate to.
