Mild themes and violence, some scenes may scare children
Conor (Lewis MacDougall) is dealing with far more than other boys his age. His mother (Felicity Jones) is ill, he has little in common with his imperious grandmother (Sigourney Weaver), and he is the target of bullies at school. Then one night, Conor summons an unlikely ally an ancient 40 foot high tree monster (voiced by Liam Neeson) who spirits him away to a dark and magical world where stories come to life. Transporting us with tales of courage, loss and hope, A Monster Calls is the spectacular new film from acclaimed director J. A. Bayona (The Impossible, The Orphanage).
